With the whole day to prepare and the next day to recover from the party, Saturday is the most popular day in the U.S. to schedule a wedding. Although there are 52 possible Saturdays to choose from, precious few are prophesied to bestow special blessings upon a marriage. If your heart is set on having a Saturday shindig, then you often must move quickly to secure your time slot.

Friday evenings are perfect for smaller weddings or when most of the guests live nearby. Many vendors provide discounts for Friday weddings, which can shave thousands of dollars off your expenses. You are also more likely to secure your dream location on the date you want.

The same perks apply to Sunday weddings, which are especially popular in the Jewish religion since marriage ceremonies are forbidden during Shabbat. Sunday is also an idyllic day for Christian ceremonies, especially if alcohol is limited or excluded during the reception.

To help you pick your perfect wedding day, here are the most auspicious wedding dates in 2015 and 2016 as determined by the Chinese Tung Shing and the Hindu Panchangam astrological almanacs.

Chinese Tung Shing

The newest version of the Tung Shing calendar indicates fortuitous dates during the Year of the Green Yin Wood Sheep, which spans February 19, 2015 to February 7, 2016. Before choosing your lucky wedding date, you must crosscheck it with your horoscope. Each day has an associated Chong Evil that actually cancels out the predicted good fortunes for anyone born under a specific sign.

There are nine lucky weekend days in March and April 2015 and another nine in 2016. Depending on the climate of where you live, this is a beautiful time of the year to get married with the whole world blooming in the background. It is also still the off-peak season. When the U.S. wedding season kicks off on May 1, expect prices for venues, photographers and tuxedos to shoot up.

July and August, the most common wedding months in the U.S., are ripe with options. This is a great time to hold an outdoor ceremony or to give traveling guests an opportunity to take an extended summer vacation.

As usual, October offers numerous opportunities for a spectacular autumn wedding, while you have numerous winter wonderland wedding dates to choose from. These off-peak dates should be available for most venues, although you will have more competition during the holidays.

The 8th Voyager has compiled a list of lucky wedding dates in 2015 and 2016, along with the associated horoscopes that should avoid these dates, based on information from the Chinese Tung Shing.

Hindu Panchangam

The Hindu Panchangam astrological calendar also calculates auspicious days for marriage. Expect venues to fill fast for the lucky Saturday, February 14, 2015, date as couples look to celebrate their love on Valentine's Day. In honor of Chaturmas, when the gods are in their deep yogic sleep, all Hindu marriage celebrations are banned between July 27 and Nov. 22 in 2015 and July 15 through Nov. 10 in 2016.
